Accounts Receivable Clerk (Part-Time)
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for reconciling and collecting premium accounts receivable.  The candidate must possess excellent Microsoft Excel skills, good customer service skills, be a strong team player, detail-oriented, and maintain integrity in all dealings. The incumbent must have an ability to learn new skills easily, be open to change, and be analytical and decisive while working within the parameters of assigned authority.

This is a part-time position offering an average of 18-21 hours per week. If desired, the incumbent will able to work remotely all or part of the time after a period of on-site training at Family’s office.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, and record incoming broker payments
  • Reconcile broker payment statements including both manual data entry in Excel and automated matching tools
  • Follow up with brokers regarding outstanding payments and missing statements
  • Prepare monthly receivable statements and collect all amounts due
  • Prepare and post journal entries to record cash received and required adjustments
  • Prepare weekly cheque deposits and reconcile with the cash entries 
  • Balance the general ledger to supporting accounts receivable spreadsheets
  • Additional accounting duties may be assigned depending on the candidate’s experience and opportunity within the department

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, particularly in a high transaction volume accounts receivable role
  • Post-secondary education in the field of accounting (additional years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education)
  • Knowledge of at least one intermediate level accounting software package (Family uses Microsoft Dynamics GP)
  • Capable of using MS Excel at an intermediate to expert level
  • Experience in the insurance industry is an asset, but not required
